Congratulations! You’re moving!
When moving out of your home, packing is more stressful and challenging if you don’t organize yourself. One way to do this is to get rid of the clutter. It’s the only way you can decide what to take and what you no longer need.
Ridding yourself of unnecessary and unwanted clutter is your main goal. As a bonus, the less you take, the less you have to pay to move. The average four-person household needs a seven ton van to move. By not purging those items you haven’t used in a while, you may need a bigger van.
Think of the upgrades you’ve gotten in your new purchase. Do you really need the old tip on cleaning granite when you’ve got new marble countertops? If it doesn’t fit into your newly upgraded home, it doesn’t need to join you there. By all means, keep the sentimental items that are important to you. Starting fresh has a positive impact both physically and mentally.
Go through all your important documents and be sure to keep those in a pack pile. Next go through old magazines, toys, unused small appliances, artwork, books, old electronics, etc. Decide if you want to donate them or hold a garage sale. Either way you make cash and keep our landfills less full.
Believe it or not, it can be very cathartic ridding yourself of unnecessary clutter. Use the moving experience to streamline your life and belongings.
