Attention Chicagoland real estate property owners! Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas estimated that the Cook County second installment tax bills will not be mailed until around November 22, 2010 according to a Chicago Tribune article dated September 29, 2010 which is a month later than the October 28, 2009 mailing date last year. This put off real estate tax increases until after the November 2, 2010 election.
The county is considering the tax bills to be due around December 22, 2010. The delay in the mailing of the second installment of Cook County real estate taxes adversely affects the municipalities counting on that revenue not to mention the Chicagoland property owners facing a cash crunch at the end of the year.
